“Athletes competing at the 2012 Olympic Games in London are free to tweet during the competition, the Olympic Committee said. The athletes are actively encouraged to “take part in social media and to post, blog and tweet their experiences,” the guidelines from the Olympic Committee (AOC) say, as long as it’s not for commercial purposes.”

HOW TO: Manage Your Online Reputation Using SEO

“Of the almost 80% of U.S. hiring managers who had searched for candidates online, 70% of them said they had rejected a candidate based on what they found in his or her search results, according to a 2009 study commissioned by Microsoft. While you might not be able to remove damaging content from the Internet, there’s a good chance that you can minimize its impact using simple SEO techniques. And even if your search results are squeaky clean, the same techniques can help you control how you’re perceived online. Here’s how to get started.”

Startups Don’t Die, They Commit Suicide

“Long before startups get to the point of delinquent electricity bills or serious payroll cuts, they implode. The people in them give up and move on to do other things, or they realize that startups are hard and can cause a massive amount of mental and physical exhaustion — or the founders get jobs at other companies, go back to school, or simply move out of the valley and disappear.”

You may have heard about the social graph and the interest graph, but what about the health graph? Thanks to RunKeeper, this term may soon become an oft-used part of your vocabulary. Since then, RunKeeper has expanded across mobile platforms, growing into a community of 6 million strong.

More than 3 millisieverts of radiation has been measured in the urine of 15 Fukushima residents of the village of Iitate and the town of Kawamata, confirming internal radiation exposure, it was learned Sunday. Both are about 30 to 40 km from the Fukushima No. 1 power plant, which has been releasing radioactive material into the environment since the week of March 11, when the quake and tsunami caused core meltdowns.

Internet Marketing For eCommerce Owners

Many eCommerce site or online store owners tend to shy away from creating content in order to market their website online. After all, the accepted wisdom for converting customers as efficiently as possible is to show products clearly and attractively as possible and make it as easy as possible for customers make a purchase. That’s all good and well but this method focuses on converting traffic, not driving traffic. There’s not much use in having the world’s greatest salesperson if you keep him (her) locked in a basement. In the same way, putting all your energy into creating a slick, high converting eCommerce site (or online store) is not much use if you can’t bring potential customers to it in sufficient numbers.

The data plans would work similarly to the iPad. Users could sign up and pay for what they need when they need it.
